Two military personnel have been shot near the White House in Washington, DC. Al Jazeera’s Alan Fisher reports below: West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey has confirmed that the two National Guard members shot earlier on Wednesday near the White House have died from their injuries.
The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal, was shot moments after the attack and was hospitalized in serious condition.
President Donald Trump, who was in Florida when the ambush took place, has called the suspect an “animal” who would “pay a very steep price” and praised the National Guard in a social media post.
